Sizzling summer of events at The Valley
The Valley’s marketing team made of the most of the historic fine weather this summer delivering high-profile outdoor events helping to drive footfall and all important shopper spending.
THOUSANDS flocked for a fun-packed pirate-themed show at The Valley’s Beach launch to mark the official opening of our landlocked beach attraction. ‘Cook and Line’ from CBeebies hit show Swashbuckle were the star attraction performing their hilarious comedy act. They were joined by a pirate-themed bands, nautical stilt walkers and local radio station Touch FM.
The show’s theme was a perfect backdrop for the summer’s giant sandpit, which was created in the shape of an enormous wooden pirate ship, holding more than 100 tonnes of golden sand.
The Valley served a tennis treat in July by screening the live action from Wimbledon with our pop-up tennis event. Deckchairs, strawberries and cream and even a short-tennis court to entertain budding tennis stars of the future featured throughout the summer months.
To support our Wimbledon events we installed a Union Jack umbrella canopy of 60 umbrellas suspended above the central mall. The canopy created a buzz throughout Worcestershire with the local press and visitors alike, enhancing the shopping environment and proving a massive hit digitally with photos and selfies being shared widely. A portrait of a dog taken by a shopper with the backdrop of the canopy attracted over 7,500 likes via our Instagram page alone!
