Ten cyclists, two hundred miles
A team of cyclists of various abilities set off from the Boardman Performance Centre at The Valley, Evesham for two days of gruelling, hilly cycling through the Cotswolds, Mendips and Blackdown Hills. Covering over 200 miles in the process, the team finished the demanding cycle at the glorious East Devon fishing village of Beer.
The Eagle One Team were raising money for a great cause; The Hollow Lane Club. Just one mile from our Exeter HQ – the charity provide support for children and young people with complex disabilities through a year-round programme of clubs and activities that provide them with opportunities to socialise and engage in fun and recreational activities. They had set a tentative fundraising target of £1500 and quickly surpassed that.
James May, Property Manager at Eagle One, commented,
To start the adventure at Boardman HQ was a real privilege, the Brownlee brothers bike display and a working demonstration of their Wind Tunnel being the highlights. A stunning cycle through the Cotswold countryside ensued and was followed by an overnight stay in Bristol before cycling to Devon and visiting The Hollow Lane Club in Exeter. Seeing first hand the care, thought, effort and opportunities they provide to children with complex disabilities was quite incredible.
He continued,
After having some fun at the Hollow Lane Club annual ‘Tinkfest’ we started the final leg of our journey to Beer with renewed energy. A few punctures and one very steep hill later we successfully made it to Beer. The team were elated to have completed the journey, and to learn that we had surpassed our fundraising target. The Hollow Lane Club can now purchase annual zoo passes for all of their children, and they have received a healthy contribution toward their day to day running costs. A successful mission for this year but in true Eagle One style next year will be bigger and more ambitious….
Despite the ride being completed, the Eagle One Team are still trying to raise as much as possible for this amazing local charity. If you would like to donate, please visit www.justgiving.com/fundraising/eagleoneannualcharitycyclechallenge .
